I recently noticed on the EA app that the Sims 4 birthday update had been released, featuring over 70 new items. I updated the game and started playing, only to find that none of the new content was added. I’ve tried removing my mods, but the new items still don’t appear. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, how did you resolve it?
I assume by updated you mean you installed the sdx? You need to restart the game after installing that. Did you do that
I am having the same issue. I've also restarted game and computer, removed mods and repaired my game. Using a mac. It's weird bc I can still do the time traveling quest all that is working, but I don't get the items I've achieved. This happened with the last quests as well and I just randomly got them later.

It's going to documents>Electronic Arts and deleting content folder then go into game and it prompts that an update is happening and then you are told you need to restart game, this fixed for me
First thing to try is to go into your game options / Sims Delivery tab and click the "Check for new Content" button. Some folks might have theirs set to "never" check and so it won't download automatically.
Also, as to maybe relieve some confusion, the new items do not show up as new "gold" items, like if you had just received a new pack. They are just mixed in with all the base game stuff. Easiest method to figure out if you do have the new stuff is to go into build/buy - objects by function - "show all" and type in HBD. You should get a smattering of doors and windows with HBD in the title if you have the new stuff.
