In the interim, on the off chance that you have a high-end Intel processor, there's a known issue with CPUs that the motherboard may overclock by default. A BIOS update sometimes fixes the issue, so install one if there's a newer version available. If you're not sure whether there is, your dxdiag may make that clear, depending on what manufacturer created your board.
If your BIOS is already updated, or you want to experiment while you're waiting for a reply, you can try disabling CPU Turbo Boost in the BIOS Advanced settings, which is the workaround for people whose issue isn't resolved with a BIOS update.
