White screen on startup (new to sims)

I'm brand new to the Sims (and PC gaming in general) so I don't really understand most of the technical terms I've seen on other answers for similar problems. The problem I'm having is that when I launch the game, it's pulling up a blank white screen. I can't exit out of it unless I force it closed with task manager. There's no sound or anything and no error messages. It's not full screen, but I can't minimize the window either. My cursor looks like a loading wheel and won't work on it. I don't have any mods and only one expansion pack, which I've tried turning off, and I've tried restarting, turning off, and updating the game. I tried following along on some other troubleshooting answers, but I don't see a "repair" option on the game in the EA app. What else can I do?

Thank you so much! I tried most of them and the one that worked for me was the link to the article "Managed to fix my problem where it crashes during launch after update | EA Forums - 4998584".

If you are still running Sims 4 on the Intel iGPU, I'd suggest trying the other suggestions too—you'll get much better performance if the game can use the Nvidia GPU instead.  If nothing else works, then that's disappointing, but at least you'll have tried.
