Sims 4 continues to reset itself

Hi there,

So recently I've been having an issue with my Origin stating that my Sims 4 is already running, and failing to open the game. Upon googling what to do about this, someone suggested moving my game from my documents to my desktop. I've since gone to play my game and it seems the entire game has reset itself.

I know it's a first world problem but that's so many hours just deleted with no warning of resetting and seemingly no way of retrieving my progress.

I was wondering if Origin will have saved any of my game progress, or if I'll be able to reload any of my content directly through sims?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Alice

    @puzzlezaddict Thanks for your help!

    I have the saves still in my saves folder however every time I try and open the game it doesn't load my old content, instead it gives me the option to reset, asking me if I've ever played sims 4 before, and takes me to create a household.

    Do you know how to load the saved content at all? I know you say you don't work for EA, but do you know if it needs to be moved to a different folder or something like that?

    Thanks 🙂

    @aliceffion  It sounds like Sims 4 is reading a different game folder than the one where your saves are currently located.  This can happen if you have OneDrive enabled and set to upload files to cloud storage—the folder gets moved, so the game can't find it and creates a new one.  Please disable OneDrive temporarily to test.

    If this doesn't make a difference, you can look for your "live" game folder (the one Sims 4 is currently using) manually.  Open a File Explorer window and type "config" in the search box.  You'll have exactly one config.log file for every game folder that's ever been used.  The one that's in the live game folder will have a last modified date that matches the last time you launched Sims 4.  Your saves need to go into the Saves folder inside that game folder.
