I'm experiencing the same with the same exact laptop. I also have no mods, repaired the game 3x, reinstalled 3x, still nothing. I'm at a total loss here.

Thank god I’m not alone! What do you guys think it is? New update that’s affected it?

An update issue maybe? I know there was an update a bit ago

  • Ooookkay so as a last ditch I added all the mods back in and it **bleep**ing worked 😂 how?! Idk but so far so good, the original crash was caused by me removing all mods in order to fix a pausing glitch in the game. But now that’s also gone to. I pray it stays that way

  • Mine is still doing this and I have tried EVERYTHING. Nothing is working.

Still no luck for me :(( i don't use mods so i'm not sure what files could be causing this issue. still showing the same unable to start error code.

  • KSMJ13  CamCamJR818 dmcocchiara  If you're still seeing this issue, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If this doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

jenaiiras  You've established that something in your Mods folder is the issue, and now you have to figure out what that is by testing the files.  The 50/50 method can make the process a lot more efficient:

  • I have a love hate relationship with the same laptop.

A few months ago I was getting an error code after trying to launch the game. Now I am just getting a white screen and nothing happens.

Last time it turned out to be a problem with my laptop using OneDrive. I wanted to download more custom content, and tried to disconnect my OneDrive to allow myself to have more space for mods. This created a problem when it would try and launch but the game was in the now deleted OneDrive folder. In the end, I couldn't get it to work until I created a separate user on my laptop and even still, it was a bit touch and go.

Today when I went to launch CurseForge after my laptop updated to scan for mod updates, it said it couldn't find my game. Upon opening the EA app, it confirmed the game wasn't on my computer at all. I reinstalled but now I'm getting this white screen.

I don't understand why EA won't just let us play the darn game! I feel like I need to get a degree in IT to play this game sometimes... Hoping a few more hours tomorrow of playing around with it will let me back on.

Is your game launching after the latest computer update?
