Sims 4 crashing and not responding

I took a pretty intensive look at the forum here. Initially, my game was throwing Last Exceptions left and right so I saved and then tried to relaunch with no mods active, my game kept repeatedly crashing. I updated my NVIDIA drivers, and also went in and selected DX9 in my settings since I've never played in DX11. I then tried Puzzle's method of creating a clean launch of the Sims 4, which worked with absolutely nothing in my folders. As per instructions I did the 50/50 method with my mods and nothing else re-added and it won't launch with ANY of my mods and it makes no sense since they were working earlier, and for hours prior to this and nothing got added or updated.

I included my dxdiag below and I'm really hoping someone can help me fix this. It's pretty much the only game I play and I am not prepared to lose all my content and legacy stuff. Thank you so much.

  • same prob for me. cant get the game to launch. it crashes before the initial menu screen even loads. but zero crash report message.

  • CupckesAnonymous  This may or may not be related to the mods issue, but please plug your monitor directly into the graphics card rather than into the motherboard as you've currently done.

If this doesn't help with the mods issue, remove the Mods folder and let the game create a new one, then add one of your mods to the new folder.  If that doesn't work, download a fresh copy of a mod confirmed compatible with the current patch and test that.

verbal_housecat  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you can get that far.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
