Sims 4 crashing on save, occassionally on a load screen, viewing gallery

tried: reinstalling sims 4, repairing, renaming sims 4 folder to get new save / tray files, windowed mode, fullscreen mode, offline origin, allowing through firewall, lowering graphics, laptop mode, administrator

I meet the minimum requirements according to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/the-sims-4/12305/?p=a

Basically play for 30 mins, crash on save or most loading screens or just viewing the gallery and changing tabs between for example community and my library. Notice memory usage is always around 1,600,000k when it crashes

Has gotten progressively worse since day 1. Day 1 (5th) i crashed maybe 3 times in a very long play session, day 2 onwards i've crashed anywhere from 15-20 times and the span of crashes can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 45 minutes.

Yeah, no idea, tired of playing for 30 mins and building something or redoing my sims outfits then hitting save and getting thrown back 30 mins in the past.
