Sims 4 Crashing

Hello, I have been having issues with my game crashing.  It appears to happen randomly.  The first time I was able to narrow it down to a mod causing the error.  Removed the mod and was good.  Then it crashed again.  I took my mods out via the 50/50 method and the game appeared to run fine with both halves in, so I can't isolate the issue.  It's only when I put all my mods back in, which is leading me to believe it isn't a mod error, but I am more than willing to remove whatever mod is causing it if so.  I have updated everything so I'm confused.  I already ran the game in a new user folder and repaired it.  The crash doesn't appear to be triggered by anything so I can't reproduce it, and when I try to isolate a mod the game runs fine with both halves of the 50/50 method.

I'm attaching my DxDiag below.  Please let me know if I need to do anything else.  I'm not sure what could be causing it.  Thank you!

Update: I tried the 50/50 method with all my other cc and couldn't reproduce the crash.  Thought I was good to go since it seemed to stop crashing.  Then it crashed again.  I don't know what to do at this point.

The crashes in your dxdiag are too generic to be much help on their own, but one cause of this type (access violation) is a bad mod.  So please retest your mods and cc as described above.

It's also a good idea to update the Nvidia graphics driver, which is from 2023.  Here's the newest one:

    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/results/253163/

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer afterwards and before trying to play.

Thank you so much for the response.  I did end up updating my graphics drivers and I thought that solved the problem, but it crashed again.  I do think it's mod or cc related, but I can't reproduce the crashes as they happen totally randomly (not after doing certain activities or after so many sim days or anything).  I just am not sure how to test since it doesn't crash at the same place every time.  I removed most of my build cc as I can live without it and put my crash report in chat gpt.  It gave me some further suggestions based off of certain cc I had that was high poly, etc.  So I'm going to try removing some of it's suggestions and hopefully it will stop crashing.  I have no problem paring down my cc, I just have no idea where to even start looking for the issue.  Thank you for the help though!

  • staaby16  You could compare your mod and cc collection against this list of known-broken files:

Broken and Updated Sims 4 Mods and CC: 1.117, Aug 19, 2025 Game Update | EA Forums - 12473785

Luthienrising has one such list for each major patch.  If you don't want to read through the entire thread, scroll down and load the whole thing at once, then use ctrl-F to search.

Scarlet's Realm has a longer list (multiple lists, actually) of broken mods and cc, but the site can't be linked here because it contains adult content.  You might find it useful though.

Please keep in mind that there is no single list on the internet that includes all broken mods and cc.  The people who maintain such lists will refuse to include certain creators for unethical behavior (e.g. stealing others' work) as well as for certain types of content.
