Sims 4 Crashing/Stuck loading - Nov. 2024

Hello, I have been playing Sims 4 on and off, but there have been times (specifically two times) where my game just crashes. It usually happens when I’m building or was finishing a build. The first time, I had been building for hours and thought I should save so I did. Once I clicked on save, the saving screen just stayed there. It was loading for hours to where I had to just open task manager and end task then shut off my PC. I lost all of my hard work and had to start all over. Today, I was making a new build. I had been building for about 2 and a half hours. I was really enjoying how the build was going but then when I was trying to break down a wall, the game wouldn’t. I was confused and tried breaking down a different wall and the game made the sound of deconstructing but was not showing it. I tried demolishing an item and everything stayed the same. I didn’t know what to do so in a panic I tried clicking the save button, and afterwards realized I should have taken pictures of the build since it might end up staying in the save screen. And guess what, that’s exactly what happened. I didn’t turn off my PC this time, I have left it loading just to try and have a little hope, but I’m afraid of keeping my PC on all night. What do I do?

more info:

- I didn’t have any mods, I only have bought packs. All of my mods were removed by the game and I just kept it that way.
- I did have sims, not inside the build, but on the sidewalk in front of it since I just put them in the world.
- I was previously on sims last night with a different build, also without mods, and nothing happened.
-This was a pretty big build, I’ll provide a picture I took to try and reference if I need to rebuild.
-I have two screens, so on one of my screens I had a window open but it wasn’t any videos, it was a search for the cheats. (I forget them.)

-I do live in a somewhat secluded area, so my WiFi isn’t the greatest. The WiFi I have doesn’t have a hole(?) for an Ethernet cord, so my PC is not Ethernet connected.
-Let me know if you need anymore information on my pc.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, have a great day/night.

  • @ClinicallyTired  This is, unfortunately, becoming a bit more common lately.  The only thing you can do here is save more often.  And use "save as" some of the time so you don't overwrite your older saves.  That way, if you do manage to save but the build is corrupt in some way, you can revert to an older intact copy.

What may or may not help is building in a new, less complicated save.  You can save your work to your in-game library and place it in your main saves after the fact, and you're not running the risk of corrupting your main saves with build-related issues.  Just make sure to playtest the new build in the new save first.

If you notice that a particular change to the build, whether cheat-related or not, tends to cause this kind of issue, that information would be of interest.  For example, perhaps placing a particular debug item means you'll have trouble saving later.
