Sims 4 doesn't work anymore.

Hello everyone!

I'm kinda desperate for some help.

I've been playing the Sims 4 since the release with no problems at all. But when I wanted to play it again after a couple of weeks my game didn't work anymore.

When I start up the game it opens a small minimalised screen in the top left corner, and after a fraction of a second I get the message 'The sims 4 has stopped working. Looking for a solution..' but no solution comes.

So, I decided to look some up myself.

I've tried various things.

- Disabling Origin in-game

- Running as Administrator

- Removing CC

- Clearing cache

- Checking if my anti-virus isn't blocking anything

- Opening in windowed mode

- Repairing the game through Origin (3 times, including gamepacks and expansions)

- Reinstalling the game

- Reinstalling Origin

- Updating my drivers (they were up to date)

- Opening the game in Cleanboot

Nothing has worked as of yet, and I'm starting to get frustrated.

I've only ever had my game crash one time before, and this was due to CC which I removed. I have no clue what to try next.

I have 140 hours logged onto the game with no problems ever, so I don't imagine there'd be a problem with my specs.

If you have any  program you'd like me to use to show my computer specs please post it below.

    To anyone who has the same problem as I did:

    Check if your hard drive isn't failing.

    Shortly after posting this, more programs started to have the same problem and now my laptop can't start up anymore.

    Hopefully you're in luck and find another solution than buying a new laptop hehe

    Your graphics chip is below specs but that should not cause the issue you're seeing, especially if it ran before.

    Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

    You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

    Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

    The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

    Just putting this out here,

    I have the same problem and tried all the things listed above. Game still does not work.

    I also tried the "Rename The Sims4 to Sims4Backup" but the same problem happened.

    Hopefully there is a solution for this, I really don't want to wait for another update to fix this.

    Hello,

    Thanks again for your help.

    I've followed the steps in your link, but the game still won't start for me. :c

    As listed above I've also completely reinstalled my game (I got rid off the savefiles etc.) but nope, nothing.

    I guess I'll just have to wait for the next update?

    This error is mostly because of Origin in game but since you disabled that, I'm unsure what else to suggest.

    Did you turn it off completely or just for the Sims 4 ?

    Hi again!

    Sorry for the late response.

    I've turned it off for the game (through proporties) and in Origin itself (through the Origin in game section).

    Hello!

    I have some other games yea, only one of which I still have installed so I tried it out.

    It brought me to the loading screen and then it also gave me the same error message.

    So I deleted everything related to origin, and reinstalled it all. But it still crashes.

    I'm guessing Origin is the problem, though when I disabled all the Origin in-game stuff it still made me crash.

    So I'm out of ideas heh.
