Sims 4 Error Code 3

 After installing the newest update for the Sims 4, a message popped up on my screen reading: The game failed to load. Error code: 3. Also, there was a notification in the upper right corner that said "The save game you are attempting to load was saved with a newer version of the Sims 4 than is currently installed. Please update in order to safely load this save game." The button that allows me to create a new household is gone, and instead there's only just the play button. When I click on the play button it brings me to Create a Household, but when I'm finished creating my sim, the map of the two towns is completely blank.

I've tried dragging my save file onto my desktop, which makes the error message go away. Unfortunately, this doesn't solve the problem, since the map is still blank ☹️ I do have some CC downloaded, which I took out of the game, but that didn't do anything either. There are no expansion/stuff/game packs downloaded for the Sims 4. I'm out of options, and I really hope I didn't waste my money on this game. If anyone has any advice on what to do, please reply.

    Did you try renaming the complete user folder and repairing the game through Origin ?

    Dear Crin,

    I am having the same problems as Lloria and have followed the same steps (deleting my cache data, deleting my saves, and getting rid of CC) and now I am trying to follow your step, however I do not know what/where the "complete user folder" is. These problems started accuring for me after I installed the "Get Together" expansion pack. 😞 Thanks for your help, Oliver.

    You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

    Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

    The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

    Dear Crin,

    Thanks so much for the help. I had to completely wipe my sims 4 game and repair it through origin but a fresh game is better than none! Thanks so much for the help and sorry I didn't write back sooner, I have been really busy this holiday season. Happy New Year and I wish you all the best in 2016.

    I have this same issue, except I can't even create a new household. If I click on the play button, the screen goes white for a moment, then returns to the main menu, giving me the same Error Code: 3 message as before.
