Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? enter the game, go into build mode, and then exit it
What happens when the bug occurs? once I exit build mode, the game does not let me control anything, or click any options, thus I cannot save what I just built and I have to go into the system and force quit the game.
What do you expect to see? I expect to be able to control my sims, and save the game after I build stuff
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.

I'm having the same issue. I took out all mods and cc, did a game repair, and it didn't make a difference. Once I exit build mode, I can't click on anything and have to use task manager to shut down the game. Edit: Forgot to mention that I also cleared the cache.

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files and make a backup.
After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.
Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.
The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.
I am having the exact same issue, updated the game, played it without any mods with a new sims in preperation for eco living. once i go into buy mode i can do everything but when i exit, the live mod icon dissapears, the hud dissapears. i can click on things but nothing pops up. my sim got an invitation through the phone, i accepted this in the hopes of forcing a loading screen but nothing happened. what happened to break the game this badly o.o

I’m having the same issue, and it’s so frustrating because I have to close down the entire Mac which I’m no expert but I’m sure is causing some damage.
I regret updating my game, it was working perfectly before. Please can this hurry up and be resolved. I’ve tried disabling mods, updating them, updating my Mac, repairing the game......apart from uninstalling and re-installing the game, I’m at a loss.
@cherrizzle Please move your entire Sims 4 user data folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Don't add anything to this folder yet; just start a new save and play for a bit. Let me know whether the issue is still present.
By the way, please also make sure that your saves and mods aren't loading in-game. If they are, then the folder you moved is not the folder Sims 4 is reading.
