I’m having the same issue, and it’s so frustrating because I have to close down the entire Mac which I’m no expert but I’m sure is causing some damage.
I regret updating my game, it was working perfectly before. Please can this hurry up and be resolved. I’ve tried disabling mods, updating them, updating my Mac, repairing the game......apart from uninstalling and re-installing the game, I’m at a loss.

@cherrizzle Please move your entire Sims 4 user data folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Don't add anything to this folder yet; just start a new save and play for a bit. Let me know whether the issue is still present.
By the way, please also make sure that your saves and mods aren't loading in-game. If they are, then the folder you moved is not the folder Sims 4 is reading.
- Laydawesome5 years agoNot applicable@puzzlezaddict Yes removing the mods folder from my EA folder was the first thing I did and the game worked immediately after a reload. I am just going back through after deleting all my mods and installing ones I know aren't broken with the update.
- Laydawesome5 years agoNot applicable@cherrizzle Unfortunately the only thing that has worked for me is uninstalling and deleting ALL my mods and starting from scratch ☹️( I can't confirm if it worked because I'm currently reinstalling the mods I know aren't broken.
