Sims 4 freezes when trying to go into build mode

Okay so my game was fine, downloaded some mods (then found out they were broken so i deleted them) and now I can't make a household for a lot or even go into build mode. I usually use save files with all worlds done and I've always done that, no issues until now. So, when I load the save file, I go to a lot that I want to change (just upload a house from the gallery) and it loads for a while, then just freezes. The problem is not my cc/mods. I've done the 50/50 method, checked for drivers that needed to be updated, restarted my laptop, did batch fixes to my cc, repaired my game.  Also, for some reason whenever I try to go into any other app (file explorer, Microsoft edge, ect.) and then I go back into The Sims it flashes black and white and so instead of me still being on the frozen screen it's just a blank white with music playing. Please help me.

(so sorry for this long description, just wanted to go in depth!!)

  • limitedvaeh  When you say the problem isn't your mods, does that mean you've tested with your entire Mods folder removed?  If not, please do that just to be thorough.  I don't want to waste a lot of your time testing other potential causes if this would fix it.  And I'm not suggesting you play without mods or cc in general, only that something else could be broken that didn't cause an issue before now.

If the game does the same thing with your Mods folder removed, please test a different lot in one of your existing saves, one on which you haven't built before and that doesn't have any Gallery content on it.  If that lot is affected too, please test a new save, again without downloading anything from the Gallery.

Just tried without my mods folder and it did the same thing. Also the flashing thing stopped when I put my game into windowed fullscreen mode but it still freezes when trying to go into build mode in the save file even without my mods.

  • limitedvaeh  Did you try other lots in this save?  Did you try a new save?  If not, please do so now.  It's important to find out whether the problem is limited to one lot or one save.

If the new save is affected, without your mods or custom content present, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

update, i literallly just gave up and reinstalled the sims 4 but now it says unrecognized video card

  • limitedvaeh  You can ignore the Unrecognized Video Card message as long as you don't see any other issues.  This means that your graphics card isn't in the game's database, but the database is always incomplete and lagging behind in terms of adding new GPUs.

If you DO see any other issues, I'd like to see a dxdiag.
