Sims 4 freezing at the same time in game

About a month ago my game started freezing at the same time in the game. When I open and start playing the time is set to 9:30pm and every time at 11:41pm exactly all sims stop what they're doing as though I haven't queued up any actions for them to do, but nothing happens when I try to pause or click any objects/sims forcing me to turn off my laptop to be able to exit the game. I've tried playing in multiple households and the same thing happens so it's not just one particular household.

I deleted all CC/Mods and whilst this did speed up the loading screens it didn't fix the issue. I've also tried repairing the game through Origin and resetting the game to factory settings, the repair didn't help but after resetting the game I am able to play normally on a new game save but when going back to my other original save the problem persists. I've played with the same families for a long time and have a bit of an attatchment to them so would love to find out if theres anything else I can do that will allow me to play and fix the issues.

Thank you 🙂

  • @simberella_99  Is there anything special about the current day in the save that freezes?  A couple months ago, there was a problem with Winterfest, specifically one that caused endless spawning of Father Winters, and the game would grind to a halt as it happened.  The underlying issue was fixed in the December patch, but maybe you last played before that.

If that's not the problem, please let me know whether there's anything else supposed to be happening in-game around the time of the freeze.

I think it might actually have been a day or two after Winterfest that this happened as it's still Winter in game at the moment! I had a look at older saves and I think it was around December 2nd when the issue first happened and I haven't been able to play since as the issue has been preventing me playing more than two minutes. The game has definitely been updated with the December patch but unfortunately the issue is still there.

@simberella_99  The December 7 patch prevented the problem from happening in new saves, but existing saves that were previously affected weren't fixed.  The most obvious sign of this problem is a bloated save file, so please have a look; saves are stored in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves.  If the save file you're trying to play is significantly larger than normal, or than its backups, you likely have the Father Winter issue.

If that's your issue, the easiest solution is to revert to a previous version of the save, one that's from before the issue occurred.  You'll be able to tell by the save file sizes.  Use the manual method described here:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/save-games/#wiederherstellen

If you don't have any unaffected backups, you can try using MCCC to delete all the homeless sims in your save, which would also delete all the excess Father Winters.
