Sims 4 freezing then crashing after a few minutes of game play

So I have tried repairing, and I also had moved out all my mods as well, and my game only lets me play for a minute at best. Then it freezes, and shuts down.

Here are my specs, I just upgraded my graphics drivers or whatever it was ^^; anyone else having this problem?

@winteryrose11  That means that some content in your old Sims 4 folder is causing the issue.  The most likely cause is a mod, but it could in theory be almost any file, or even a folder.  So the next step is to start rebuilding your content.  I'd start by testing your mods in batches in the clean folder; if you notice any issues, you'll know that one of the mods you just added is the problem, and you can split the last batch and test until you find out which one.  Then go through your custom content the same way, and add your saves and Tray files at the end.

  • @winteryrose11  Hi again.  Your dxdiag has a number of new errors, one of which is definitely due to the Nvidia graphics driver and a couple more that could be.  The driver MSI offers for your laptop is actually older than the one you have installed, so try installing the newest one from Nvidia:

    https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/170887/en-us

When installing, shut down all other applications, and run the installer as an admin: right-click on the download and select "Run as administrator."  Select the custom install route and the option to "perform a clean install."  Restart before trying to play.

@winteryrose11  Try playing in a clean user folder (even if you already have during previous troubleshooting).  Move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and a clean folder will spawn the next time you launch the game.  Don't add anything to this folder yet; just see whether the game crashes.

If it does, I'd like to see if there are any crash dumps for Sims 4.  Click Windows key-R and copy and paste this:

    %LocalAppData%\CrashDumps

When you enter, you'll see a list of .dmp files.  If one of them is from Sims 4, please upload it to a third-party filehosting site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and link it here.

If there is no Sims 4 .dmp file, you can enable them:

    • Hit the Windows key, type "command prompt" in the box, right-click on Command Prompt in the search results, and select Run as Administrator
    • In the window, paste "reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\devenv.exe" /v DumpType /d 2 /t REG_DWORD" without the outside quotes into the box, and enter
    • Launch Sims 4 and wait for it to crash (whether you can play at all or not)
    • After it crashes, wait for any crash dialogs to finish
    • Then hit Windows key-R and paste "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" without quotes into the box, and enter
    • Upload the last .dmp file to a free filesharing site and link it here
    • When you want to undo the auto crash log dumps, open Command Prompt as before, paste "reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps" /f" without the outside quotes, and enter.

Please keep using a clean Sims 4 user folder while testing, just so that there aren't any complicating factors.
