the game either flashes black and white and goes to backround, shows the menu for a second like its working and then freezes and crashes, or just loads forever on a blank white screen. or that error message appears. pls help! i haven't been able to play for a year!
ourneoneon The initialization error has a few known causes. Please see the first post of this master thread for more information:

But it sounds like that might not be your only issue. If you restart your computer immediately before trying to play, do you always get the initialization error, or never, or is the outcome still random?
Please also provide a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
