sims 4 game crashes when loading household

Hey guys, Since last night my sims game crashes when i try loading a household. I've tried deleting all my CC, reinstalling the game, and i even used origin to repair the game but nothing works. Also i notice when i reinstalled my game for the second time, i gotten a message saying this video card could not be recognized, it had said it before but i was still able to play.

  • @Juliannanoir  Please move your Sims 4 game folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  Launch the game, and let me know whether it still crashes, and when.

Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

For the unrecognized card, the relevant info will be in the dxdiag.  (And you'd get the error message each time you had a new game folder, whether you uninstalled and reinstalled the game or just patched.)  But I'd also like to see the first 40 or so lines of the file called config.log inside your new game folder.  You can copy and paste that info into a post here; stop when you hit the list of game options.

@shekby29  Your saves are inside Saves in the Sims 4 folder you moved to your desktop.  You can move them to the new Saves folder in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 if you want.  But the point was to see whether the game ran properly in a clean folder, as in, no saves, no mods or cc, nothing from your old folder.

If it's running properly, then by all means, start moving your existing content into the new game folder.  I'd start with mods and cc though, if you use any—those files are the most likely to cause problems.  You can test the files in batches; any batch that causes problems needs to be split and tested again until you find the problem file(s).  When you're done, you should have a working game folder into which you can move your saves, and your Tray items (saved sims and builds) as well.

    Hi Puzzleaddict!

Just wondering if you would be able to help me. I went to load the household I was playing and received the 132 error (not sure on the other digits I can post once them when I get home)

I had the same "couldn't recognize my graphics card" issue but I was able to bypass it and create a family and house as well as play them for a while.. Once I restarted the game cause my sims were unable to go through doors is when it gave me that error code when trying to load them.

I spent forever creating the family and house - help please!

@WastedBliss  It would be helpful to see the exact error: some of the numbers are very similar but don't mean the same thing.  Please post a screenshot when you get the chance, and then quit without saving.

As for the unrecognized graphics card, I can help with that, if you want.  It's not strictly necessary to get your card recognized, but it can improve graphics or performance in some cases.  If you'd like to fix this, please go into Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4, open the file labeled config.log, copy the info between "Graphics device info" (about 25 lines down) and "Options" (about 40 lines down), and paste it in a reply.

@WastedBliss  Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.  I don't recognize the error, and I looked around a bit for something similar, and I was going to ask around... but then I just forgot.

It's probably related to mods or custom content though, maybe something you used in the house.  One test you can try is loading the save in a clean game folder.  Move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, launch the game to create a new folder, redo your graphics settings if you want, and quit.  Then go into the Saves folder inside the Sims 4 folder that you moved, copy your save, and paste it into Saves in the new TS4 folder.  (Copy instead of dragging and dropping so that you can mess around with the new copy and still have the original as backup.)

If the household loads, great; that means the issue is something inside the old game folder.  Quit without saving, move some of your mods/cc to the new folder, and test again.  Any batch you move over that prevents the save from loading properly needs to be split and tested again until you find the problem file(s).  Once you've sorted through everything, you can move over any other saves you have, plus the contents of Tray, which contains your saved households and builds.

If the save doesn't load even in a clean folder with no mods or cc present, try playing a different household first, for at least a couple of sim-hours.  If that doesn't work either, try loading a backup save.  Use the manual method described here:
