Hey
I did this and progressively added everything back and it opened everytime pretty quickly as if nothing was the problem.
First time I opened without anything it opened in 2 minutes and loaded to the main menu for 15 minutes
Second time I added back my saves and tray it also opened in 2 minutes and loaded to the main menu in 15 minutes
I figured it took 15 minutes because I had several other things opened I forgot to close. I closed everything reopened and it took 8 minutes
I added my mods folder back and it opened in 5 minutes and took around 25 minutes 30 minutes to load to the main menu. I know it's long but I have a lot of cc and my laptop isn't like the newest however it stopped taking 40 minutes just to open the loading screen which is what I wanted.
So like I guess operating on a new file worked but I don't know why it did that in the first place. Do you still want a dxdiag?
There is a problem though but I don't know if I should make a new post about it: since it started working again I can't click on my sims or other sims at all. I can make them interact with objects though.
I know this should typically be an outdated mod problem but I have literally updated every single one of my script mods (like chingyu, lumpinou, sacrificial, adeepindigo, basemental) very recently to try and fix my previous problem (even though that didn't work because it probably did not happen because of mods) and simple ccs don't really cause these problems so...
I just opened the game only with script mods and tried (did forget to delete cache before though) and it still doesn't work so it may be that except I genuinely updated every single script mod that's on my game right now and I have played with the latest version of them on the last sims version before and it was fine so maybe not. I'll probably make a new post if I don't fix it by tomorrow night
@HappyFeet128 Your mods may be updated, but that doesn't necessarily mean they all work properly. You'll need to test them yourself. The 50/50 method can make the process mor efficient:

Disabling the mods pop-up at the Main Menu can also help with loading times, sometimes by a significant margin. So I'd suggest doing that in general and definitely when you're constantly quitting and reloading to test your mods. You can load the game with no mods just to disable the option if you don't want to wait.
