sims 4 game wont launch

every time i attempt to open my sims 4 game it closes out the EA app the nothing happens. I've tried using the "repair button" as well as restarting my computer several times. It has been 3 days now and I've also attempted to submit this report multiple times and received an "error" to it. Please help☹️

  • @itsllindaa  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

If you see an error when trying to launch the game, please post a screenshot of that as well.

  • I just moved my Mods folder to the C disc after I checked where my saves and such were going into. I launched the game and they still won't pop up.

@PyperthePopTart  Okay, please list the folder the game is reading as described in the guide I linked.

Please also right-click one of the mods (or saves, or whatever you want to test with) that isn't loading in-game, select Properties > General, and list the full file path you see under Location.

Hello, I just tried this and it did not work.  A new file was not created and the game still failed to launch.  When I tried to run the diagnostic, the 64-bit option was not there and all other diagnostics came back as fine.  Please help!  I can't even figure out how to make a help ticket to send to EA because their app and website are so unintuitive and not user friendly!

@Sandra111390  Please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post here.  Hit Windows key-R, enter "dxdiag" without quotes, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  Click Reply (not Quick Reply) on a post in this thread, click the Browse button below the text field and next to the paper clip icon, and attach the dxdiag.

Please also let me know whether you see an error message when you try to play.  If so, please post a screenshot.

Here is the DxDiag file.  No error codes show up when I try to launch.  I hit play in either the app or click the desktop icon for TS4 and in the App a progress bar for game launch shows up but doesn't finish.  Instead the box shifts to the messages "Failed to launch the game" and "Double-check your connection or try again later" I am given no actual error codes whatsoever.

My internet connection is FINE.  I have good fiber-optic internet and am hardwired in with an ethernet cable.  So that can't be the issue.

@Sandra111390  Your dxdiag shows one error related to the Nvidia graphics driver, a couple of Sims 4 errors that might also be related to the driver, and a few failed Windows updates.  It's best to start with the last of these, specifically by running some basic checks on your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Next, do a clean uninstall of the Nvidia graphics driver, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

You can get a fresh copy of the Nvidia driver here:

    https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/210518/en-us/

However, the error itself is showing up for a few other players for no apparent reason, and I'm not confident the above will allow Sims 4 to run for you even if it should be done for overall system health.  If you still get the connection error, please post in this thread:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/Failed-to-Launch-Game-due-to-Connection/td-p/12737059

Create an EA App error report, as described here:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/ea/ea-app/run-ea-error-report/

And include the report ID in your post.

The message I received after the scan is:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

about to restart and do the rest of the list you suggested.

Yeah, none of that worked...I am about to just do the nuclear option and do a factory reset and PRAY the new install works.  If not, I will be demanding a full refund for EVERYTHING from EA, a refund for what I paid for the base game and the full price I paid for EVERY. SINGLE. DLC... and yes, I have them all.that is roughly $1,100 all said and done.  This is ridiculous.  EA FORCES us to switch from a launcher that worked just FINE and instead gives us this dumpster fire of an App that TONS of people have issues with and after MONTHS hasn't even bothered to fix it!

@Sandra111390  If you still can't run Sims 4, please stay with that other thread I linked.  As you can see, it's a Known Issue that's being investigated.

You can of course try to get a refund for all your Sims 4 content, but you're not likely to have any success.
