I followed the steps given and reached the point where i have to start my game. However it kept popping up with a message saying 'game cannot start, files or data may be damaged or missing' this is my last resort now and im re-installing my entire game. I have really slow internet connection so this will now take weeks. I have also deleted all the sims files as hopefully, it should create new ones.

Did you only remove files in the user folder or maybe by accident files from the programs folder ?
