My game keeps crashing and there is no pattern. Sometimes i'll make it to my save file before it crashes, other times it will crash at the loading screen. I tried starting a new game and it crashes in CAS. I have removed all my mods and CC, repaired the game twice, removed all folders in the EA file, and checked that my graphics card driver is up to date and its still crashing. I don't know what to do.

@RadiantQueenLove Thanks for the dxdiag, which lists a number of Sims 4 crashes with (seemingly) different causes. Two of the crashes reference a component of the Nvidia graphics driver, so the place to start is with a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver. You can impose that just for the game: go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, open Options.ini, search for frameratelimit , and set it to 60. This is not a fix but a test to see whether the problem disappears when the load on the graphics card, and to some extent the processor, is decreased dramatically. Let me know how it goes.

@puzzlezaddict I got it to work temporarily and tested it by loading into different lots and CAS. then i started to test my mods by slowly adding them back in and it stopped working. when i remove all mods again, its not working at all. I play other games and the sims is the only one doing this.

@puzzlezaddict I figured it out, I cleared the EA cache and its working now. Thank you for your help!

I thought it was fixed but I was wrong. The game is still crashing even without mods. its not crashing right away like it used to, but it is still crashing. i cant figure out what is triggering it.

@RadiantQueenLove Please try playing in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a(nother) new save and see whether it crashes. If you do get another crash, please list the context, for example live mode vs. CAS or Build/Buy, when your sims are traveling or when you're choosing a new outfit, that kind of thing. Please also post a new dxdiag.

@RadiantQueenLove Almost all the errors in your newest dxdiag reference a component of the Nvidia graphics driver, so please do another clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver. If you can, and the Geek Squad didn't, please also make sure the power cables are securely plugged into the power supply itself. The tech who installed the new graphics card should have taken care of the GPU end but may not have checked the PSU end.

If that doesn't help, please uninstall and reinstall the newest VC++ runtimes, which Sims 4 uses. Click Windows key-i, select Apps, and scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables. Click on any 2015 or newer versions, both x86 and x64, and Uninstall. (Don't touch the versions from any other year.) Then download and install new versions directly from Microsoft:

You need both the x86 and x64 versions, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device. Restart your computer before trying to play.

Please test Sims 4 in both DirectX 9 and 11 modes, and let me know if one runs better than the other. Here's how to switch:

I've just started having this issue. I've tried all the steps listed here and it's still happening.

Removed mods. cleared cache. renamed Sims 4 folder to Sims 4_old, removed total EA folder, repaired game, clean-installed drivers, restarted computer, repaired the game again, changed the Config.ini and STILL the game crashes completely when exiting CAS.
