Sims 4 Keeps Crashing
Hello all, I am hoping someone can help me. My Sims 4 game keeps crashing. Usually this is after about 2 minutes of gameplay, but sometimes happens sooner. There is no common denominator that I can...
@busypixie Your dxdiag shows that Sims 4 is crashing because of an issue with a component of the VC++ 2015-2019 runtimes, or one of them anyway. That's the same error as you found in the Reliability Monitor. The dxdiag also lists some generic Windows errors, so it's best to start there. Please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
For the VC++ error, please uninstall your current 2015 and newer copies and reinstall the newest versions. Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to hte Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, click on any version dated 2015 or newer, and uninstall. All of these are interchangeable to some degree, but the older ones are not, so don't touch anything from 2013 or earlier.
Download the 2022 runtimes, both x86 and x64, from Microsoft:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170
You can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device. Install the runtimes, then restart your computer before trying to play Sims 4.
Hello @puzzlezaddict, to start, here was my initial message. I will now restart to complete the other steps you provided.
