Sims 4 keeps crashing

@StKow  Just in case this is a sound issue, please disconnect all sound devices and restart your computer, then try to play either through the built-in speakers or without sound at all.  If you get another crash, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please continue to test in a clean Sims 4 user folder, with no mods or custom content, at least for now.

Disconnecting the speakers didn't help.

I am testing on a clean install without any mods or cc.

I enclose the dxdiag.txt to this reply. There is a lastCrash.txt in the Sims 4 folder, but it won't let me upload that here.

@StKow  Your dxdiag doesn't list any obvious issues, nor does it list any Sims 4 crashes.  So please trigger another crash, then look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

@StKow  This error points to a component of DirectX 9 as the faulting module, which doesn't necessarily mean DX9 is actually at fault.  Still, it's easy to reinstall, so please do that first.  Here's how:

If you get another crash, that means the culprit is probably not DX9 but rather something that interacts with it.  So the next step is to do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the graphics driver, as described here:
