Sims 4 keeps crashing

Hello, I haven't been able to play my Sims 4 game in two months. Every time I try to load the game it would show the logo, play the theme music, and crash in the middle of the loading screen. I have ...

    @1g7qlezn79up  If you haven't already, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  If the folder copies instead of moving, or you get an error when trying to move it, stop here and let me know.

    Otherwise, when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

    If you get another crash, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

    It worked! Thank you so much! What should I do with the folder that is now on my desktop? And what should I do in regards to mods and CC? Do you also know why the game had that problem? I was able to create a sim and work in Live mode for an hour, just to see how the game operates and it operated as if nothing was wrong.

      @1g7qlezn79up  If you want to keep using your mods and custom content, you'll need to test the content to find out what's broken and what's still compatible with the game.  If you have a lot of content, the 50/50 method can make the process more efficient:

      But keep in mind you may have more than one outdated or broken item—finding the first one doesn't mean that the rest of the content is fine.  It might be easier to download fresh copies of your mods, at least, confirming on their download pages that they've been updated for patch 1.99.

      Once you've sorted through your mods and cc, you can move the contents of the saves and Tray files to the new Sims 4 folder, plus Screenshots and Recorded Videos if they hold anything you'd like to keep.  The other contents of the old Sims 4 folder can be deleted.

      I'd also suggest making a backup of the saves folder, or at least your more recent saves, in case you need it at some point.  It never hurts to have a backup, and you also never know when you'll run into computer trouble.
