Sims 4 keeps crashing

Sims 4 keeps crashing after i played for 1 minute. The game freezes for 1-2 seconds and then crashes. I have repaired the game, done app recovery -> clear cache, reinstalled sims but it still doesn't work. It started yesterday suddenly after playing for a few hours (with one crash), and now i can't play at all because it crashes almost right away. I have never had this problem before transferring to the EA app, but since then it has crashed a few times, just not this severely as it does now.

@AliceBjorkenstam  Did you add any content back in other than your saves?  If so, please try with only the saves present, nothing else.  If the game still crashes, please leave your saves in place but start a new save instead, for testing purposes.  (This is a different test than before because your saves are present even though you're not loading them.)

If you get yet another crash, remove your saves and try again—I'd like to know if the problem persists in the same user folder when your saves aren't there.  The point of all this is to try to isolate the issue.  I realize that playing offline fixes it, but hopefully there's a better workaround than that.

  • emerald_fkui  Most of the errors in this dxdiag are crashes of the graphics driver, so please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:

I don't know whether the crash in CAS was triggered by this issue, but it could have been.  And in that case, there wouldn't necessarily be an accompanying Sims 4 error.  The two Sims 4 crashes listed in your dxdiag are very generic and so are no help on their own.

  • I feel like I’ve gone to the ends of the earth to try to get this problem fixed. I’ve been having the same issue! After the latest update, everything seemed to be working fine but things seemed to be a little slower and glitchier, I left the game for a few hours and signed back in, now the sims4 crashes every time the loading screen pops up. It seems like a lot of people have been having that issue. I was just wondering if anyone knows what EA is doing to fix this issue, when it might get fixed?

  • SolidFartz  Does this happen in a new save as well?  Please test and let me know.  I'm not saying you need to abandon your current save(s), only that this is a useful comparison.

Please also provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
