Sims 4 lag because of trendi outfits on sims' inventory

Hi so after the highchool years patch I noticed that my FPS dropped to 7 everytime I have trendi outfit bags on my sims' inventory. I removed my mods folder but the lag still there. Finally I removed the trendi outfits from my inventory and my game runs smooth as usual. It's such a bummer because my teen sims are aiming for the admired icon aspiration. Is there any way to fix this?

  • @kixxinghae  I actually meant a physical cleaning, like blowing out the fans and the air intake/outtake filters.  I have no idea whether temperatures are the problem here; I was just throwing that out as a possibility that would account for the problems but also not mean there was anything wrong with the laptop itself.  It's easy enough to check temps with a tool like hwinfo (free download) if you want.

Your dxdiag lists a LOT of BlueScreens, and given how many small errors Windows reports, I'd guess these are much more recent than a few months ago.  If you'd like me to take a look, open a File Explorer window and enter this in the address bar:

    C:\Windows\Minidump

If you see any dump files from after you noticed this issue, right-click on them (the last two or three only) and select Copy, then right-click on your desktop and select Paste.  From there, zip the files together, upload the .zip to the free filehosting site of your choice, and link it here.

@puzzlezaddict I'm so sorry for the late reply, I got busy in the past week. I tried playing with other save but its still laggy, even without trendi inventory and social bunny activated. At this point I just wanna know if my laptop is still compatible to play Sims 4 anymore?

@kixxinghae  Your dxdiag is full of BlueScreen errors, so much so that any other recent errors have been crowded out.  (A dxdiag only lists the last ten.)  Are you getting BSODs while playing Sims 4, or while doing something else specific?

Please also try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be in the folder you've moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just see how a new save runs.  If it still lags, restart your computer and put Origin in offline mode, then test again.

As for whether your laptop can still run Sims 4, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't.  It's entirely possible that this issue can be resolved by something simple like the above, or maybe even a good cleaning.

@puzzlezaddict I did get bluescreen but that was like 3-5 months ago and it wasn't because TS4. Does that affect the game performance?

Updating windows, playing offline, and resetting game folder didn't help at all. I noticed that disabling mood sting audio helped the lag, but compared to before highschool update my game is not as smooth.

What kind of good cleaning are you suggesting? I still have hundreds of GBs left on my HDD since I only have TS4 and TS3 in it.
