Thank you @puzzlezaddict . I'm not sure where the post is moved to. Are you able to link to it for me?
The game was purchased directly through Origin store. To clarify it was not a key bought from another site. I was able to play it in the language I purchased in for ages. Now all of a sudden the Origin app forces the EA app, and this forces the game into the Russian region.
I have tried support a couple of times. They tend to suggest things that I have already tried, such as reinstalling the game. The obviously doesn't work and they eventually concede there is nothing they can do.
A quick google search shows many people with the same issue, both here and other forums like reddit. I'm surprised EA don't assess the impact and fix it for everyone, instead they await individual complaints which they don't resolve.
I feel like EA have come into my library and altered my game in such a way that it's useless to me now. I have spent hundreds on DLCs and now they are completely useless to me, because EA broke them.
Goes to show you don't own anything you buy these days.
Louis Rossman (youtuber and advocate of Rights to Repair) is right about the piracy option. Had one pirated the game instead of purchased it, one would still be able to play it today in the same language. I'm not saying piracy is the right opinion, I'm saying companies like EA need to step up and give people what they paid for.
@cornernote You've replied in the master thread, so you're already "here," so to speak.
From what I've seen, the issue is often, not always, that someone buys a pack from a region that receives the language-locked version of Sims 4, and then the EA App assigns the language-locked base game as well. I don't know whether this is the problem in your case, but it's something to consider if you've bought a code for a new pack from a third-party site.
Regardless, you could try reaching out to support again and asking someone to remove the base game. As long as you somewhere that receives the global version, claiming it again should restore your access to all languages.
Or you could install the game through Steam, which only offers the global version. You'd need to uninstall the EA App version of Sims 4, and once you installed through Steam, you could download just your packs (not a second copy of the base game) through the EA App. They'd work with the Steam install just as if you owned them in Steam.
