Sims 4 loads only a black screen and constantly freezes

So since the last pack came out, my game hasn’t worked at all even after the update. When I try to launch the game, it pops up a black screen and a cursor with the loading on it then it will change to the pointer. That’s all that happens and it just stays there until I task manager close it. Sometimes it will very very slowly like a snail start the intro to the loading screen but eventually just freezes. It skips and freezes constantly until it just won’t load anymore and completely freezes. I’ve done these things:

-attempted to remove mods but I don’t have any

-repeatedly tried to update it

-close and reopen origin and ts4

-repair game

-made sure my drivers and windows are updated

-restarted my computer multiple times

i have a nice gaming computer, but it seems like there are always problems with either origin or ts4 or my WiFi which is just bad. Any help would be much appreciated

  • @MandaMooHere  Try disabling Origin in-game: hover over your username, select Application Settings, then the Origin in-game header, and disable the option at the top.

If that doesn't help, please move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet; just see whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.  Let me know either way.

If you can't play in the clean folder, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Thank you for helping! I'm sorry it took so long for me to figure out the dxdiag. But i finally got it. A couple updates: The search bar at the task bar doesn't work and only shows a white blank screen and doesn't search anything. When I restart my pc, after I login, it shows a black screen. I looked it up and it said to use Windows key+CTRL+SHIFT+B to wake it up and it seemed to work after I used CTRL+ALT+DEL after that.  I got to the dxdiag by using Windows key + R. And one more thing, after the screen came back on after restart, a notification popped up about a driver needing updated but I have AVAST Driver Updater that I pay for and it says everything is updated and I have no idea how to find the driver that needs updated.

I'm not sure if any of that is relevant, I just wanted to provide you with as much information as possible. Again, thank you so much! I attached the dxdiag.

@puzzlezaddict Also, I forgot to add that I tried the other things you said and they didn't change anything. And I was able to find one driver that needed updated with the Device Manager, it was called "USB Composite Device."

@MandaMooHere  Don't worry about the delay in replying; it's never a problem.

Please start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean boot, still with the clean Sims 4 folder as mentioned before.

When you've restarted, open the Task Manager (crtl-alt-delete and select the TM), and go through the background process list disabling anything that doesn't absolutely need to be running.  For example, Nvidia processes are critical, since that's the graphics driver; Adobe and Corsair software doesn't need to be running.  Not all services are disabled during a clean boot, hence the need to go through the list manually.
