Sims 4 Mods have filled my One Drive

Does EA get a cut of Microsoft One Drive Sales?

I hate games saving to My Documents or requiring Mods to be placed there.  This artificially Bloats cloud storage. (I always knew the trend of games to use My Documents, when it started, was going to cause me a headache in the future)

Is there any way to change this yet? I will take even a reg key method as currently, I can either use one drive for my documents, or for Sims 4 and a few more mods and I won't be able to use it for Sims 4.

I know there is an option to change what syncs DOWN to the PC on one drive, but this has no effect on what syncs UP

    I deleted the contents of the Mods folder from onedrive, leaving the folder in existance to test this and my one drive re-uploaded the content from my PC.

    I have however over night found 3 possible solutions;

    1. Turn off syncing documents folder and move all the files you do want to sync to another directory
    2. Move the Mods Folder to another drive and then create a folder that is actually a link to the new location (One Drive throws up an error that it can't back files up accross a link.)

    3. Set up an exclusion rule for .package and .ts4script in onedrive (Settings > Sync and back up > Advanced > Ecluded file extensions

    No, my content is not disapearing, it is filling my onedrive cloud storage

    The information in the link provided stops onedrive pulling the information down to the PC on current versions, if you recreate the folder, it starts syncing again.  You can no longer tell it you don't want to include my documents in the backup and to be honest, I WANT to back up my important documents, I don't want to back up my SIMs mods.

    @Angel55word  I meant the section "I don't want OneDrive to sync my files," which describes how to, well, stop OneDrive from syncing your files.  It's the same process whether your data is disappearing or you simply don't want OneDrive to interfere.

    @Angel55word  That's why I listed a few different options, if you read the entire section.  This is the option you're looking for:

    You could choose the Mods folder or the entire Sims 4 folder, whatever works for you.  Be sure to make a backup of anything critical before proceeding, as described in the guide.

    I do this and one drive removes the files from My PC.

    I copy the files back from the backup and it starts syncing them again

    @Angel55word  If you remove the contents of the Mods folder, but leave the Mods folder itself intact, then copy back only its contents, does OneDrive still sync the files?  If you look at the option to sync individual files again, is Mods still unchecked even as OneDrive is uploading its contents?  And finally, are you sure that OneDrive is newly syncing the files rather than just preserving those it's already uploaded?

    I can test on my own setup later today, but when I wrote this guide a few months ago, OneDrive didn't touch the contents of any folder after I'd told it not to sync that folder anymore.
