sims 4 Mods not showing up in game

I downloaded the sims to an external hard drive and some cc and mods, but they're not showing up. I don't even get the pop-up at the start of the game about them. I've gone and reapplied the settings and restarted but that doesn't work. I deleted the old mods folder and replaced it but nothing is working.

@CertifiedHermit  I understood what you meant, but my question was whether you were placing your mods in the folder Sims 4 is reading, as described here:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/

If the mods are elsewhere, that's why they're not showing up.  If the mods are in the correct Sims 4 folder, please post a screenshot of the contents of the Mods folder, as in, I'd like to see the file names and sizes.  Include the address bar, above the list of files, in your screenshot.

  • @CertifiedHermit  Regardless of where Sims 4 is installed, the game will always store user data (saves, mods, etc.) in Documents > Electronic Arts >The Sims 4.  What you can do though is create a symbolic link to the location on your external drive where you want to store this data.  Here's how:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2020/02/moving-windows-documents-folder-to-external-drive-via-symbolic-link.html

Please keep in mind that the user folder should NOT be combined with the game's program files under any circumstances.  So for example if the game is installed here:

    D:\Games\The Sims 4

Your user folder could be in a different folder on D, or even directly on D, but not inside Games.

If you need further help with the symlink process, please list the location where you want your user folder to be.  Please also list the full path to the folder Sims 4 is currently reading.  Here's how to find it:

  • Thanks for trying to help! My problem isn't necessarily the game but my mods folder. I've downloaded cc and mods and put them in the respective folder but they aren't showing up in the game. I took a look in the sim4 folder on my laptop but none of the mods or cc I installed are there like on the hard drive. should I copy and paste them onto my laptop? or will the link be better instead? sorry if I didn't explain it well before.

  • Sorry for my misunderstanding and thank you again. I was able to find where everything was actually being kept and transfer my mods/cc over! thank you for your help!
