Sims 4 not launching but EA app thinks it launched

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) Us
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Launch Game
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 6/24/23
Summarize your bug Every time I try to go launch my sims game from the EA app it takes a while to load, and then the blue play button in the EA app lights up as if I didn’t click the blue button, earlier yesterday I was playing sims, logged off of sims to go download some cc and I come back trying to launch the game it first then said sims wasn’t working since origin wasn’t installed so then I reinstalled the EA app and I try to play sims, that is when this issue occurred, I’ve tried repairing sims. Didn’t work, I’ve tried deleting the recent cc I download. Didn’t work, I’ve also tried clearing the cache from the sims 4 and the EA app. Didn’t work, and I’ve also tried to restart and shut down my computer twice, still no results, and now I’m stuck I don’t know what to do at this point or how to fix it, right now it is showing on my EA app as if I’m playing it right now (Last played Today) but sims 4 hasn’t even launched or loaded on my screen yet.
How often does the bug occur? Rarely (0% - 9%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I’m not quite sure.
What happens when the bug occurs? Sims 4 doesn’t launch the EA app thinks it launched.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see it somewhat working again I think there could be a easy solution for this to work.

It says this as if my sims 4 game is launched but the sims 4 game hasn’t showed on screen or even loaded itself yet.

  • @Bandit13cody  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also let me know whether the EA App is loading normally, for example whether it has separate lists for installed and not installed games in your library.

@puzzlezaddict Okay, I’ve moved my sims 4 folder out of the documents and yes it did load. But how would I get it to work back to where I can play the game with all of my saved sims, packs, and custom content?

@Bandit13cody  You can start adding your existing content to the new Sims 4 folder in batches, testing as you go.  Deal with your custom content and mods first, and if the game stops working, split the last batch you added and retest until you've found the cuprit.  Saves and Tray files (saved households and builds) are typically not a problem, but be sure to test those too.  Other than that, you may want to save the files in Screenshots and Recorded Videos, but that's it; the rest is expendable.

Your installed DLC is stored separately, or at least they should be.  If you're seeing any expansions, game packs, stuff packs, or kits not load in-game, please let me know what.
