Sims 4 past gaming from old laptop to a new lap

I want to move all my Sims4 saved games and families from one laptop to another. How do I do this.

  • @Sugarless22  All of your user content is in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  Saves are inside the saves folder, naturally, and saved households and builds are in Tray.  Here's a description of everything in the user folder, in case you're curious:

You can transfer the files and folders you want to keep to the new laptop through whatever means is most convenient to you: external drive or USB stick, cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.), even network sharing if you've enabled it.  In any case, I would strongly recommend zipping the data before transferring it to protect the files.  Right-click and select Send to > Compressed (zip) file to zip, and right-click and select Extract to unzip.

If you do use cloud storage, I would suggest not enabling OneDrive on either computer.  You can still upload to onedrive.com without linking the computers directly, and linking can and usually does cause complications down the road, up to and including possibly deleting saves.  If your new computer already has OneDrive set up, it would be best to change the settings before doing anything else.  Here's a guide in case you want to do that:

You'd want the "I don't want OneDrive to sync my files" or "I want to get rid of OneDrive" section.
