I'm not sure exactly either, but there must be a setting on Catalyst to force the use of the graphic cards as opposed to the chipset.I'm pretty confident this is the source of your issue. 🙂

Make sure the game runs on the card and not the chip. Don't know how to do that on AMD. Also did it never work or is this something that started afer a while ?

Could you detail which of these steps you'Ve followed, specifically? From experience, once the GPU is assigned to the game, the problem goes away.

@mthunder22 Let's see if a DXDiag reveals anything. To gather a DXDIAG on your computer, please follow the steps below: 1. Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard 2. You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen 3. Type dxdiag in the text field 4. Click OK 5. If your computer has a 64-bit version of Windows, click the button Run 64-bit DXDIAG (see screenshot below) 6. If your computer has a 32-bit version of Windows, that button will not be available 64-bit Users will notice the "Run 64-bit DxDiag" button in the bottom-left next to "Help" and should click it once it becomes available. 32-bit Users will not have this as a visible option. Once you have an open DXDIAG report, there are several pieces of information that are especially helpful in pinpointing the cause of game performance issues: The main page of the DXIDAG is the System tab. On the System tab, make a note of what is written next to Operating System, Processor, and Memory. Those three pieces of information are the key components of the System tab. Next, click on the Display tab. On the Display tab (seen in the screenshot below) please note the information written next to the word Name. Finally, on the right-hand side of the Display tab is a Drivers heading. Please note what is written next to the word Date. If you have any trouble reading the DXDIAG file yourself, you can save all the DXDIAG info as a text file and send it to an EA advisor for more assistance. 7. Click the Save All Information button, found on the bottom of the DXDIAG report 8. Save this text file to your Desktop if possible, then go to pastebin.com and copy the contents of the file. 9. I'm a bit confused, since the partial DXDiag you posted does not list the HD8670 you say is present on your computer.

I looked up the model online and it seems that it is not offered with anything but the onboard Intel chipset: http://h71016.www7.hp.com/MiddleFrame.asp?page=config&ProductLineId=539&FamilyId=3775&BaseId=43554&oi=E9CED&BEID=19701&SBLID=

It's worth making sure your chipset's drivers are updated regardless, you'll be able to find them there:

Otherwise, I recommend posting the entirety of your DXDiag.

Try posting the entire DXdiag in PasteBin.com

It may not have an AMD card, dunno.

Go to Reliabilty History and post the error log.

Start -> type "Reliability" -> View Reliability History -> Find Crash -> Right Click -> View Technical Details

*(( You probably don't have to do this on second thought... because I'm 99.99% sure it's graphics driver related anyways ))

You should install the latest Intel drives that Francois listed.

If you actually have a 8670 then we need to install AMD's drivers.. but there is doubt it actually has one in there

Download the latest AMD drivers and install them.

If still no or for whatever reason it doesn't want to install them.

Uninstall AMD Catalyst Control Center from Control Panel -> Uninstall a Program

Restart

Try installing the above again.

If still no, post back for more details. (force removing drivers from Safe Mode)

The Intel Drivers seem really funky.. not even sure. For now I would say ignore it and try only the AMD drivers... but installing the latest Intel drivers from above (Francois' Post) is still something to try I suppose.

Did some diggin on HP's website. Seems like some models had issues with Switchable Graphics and the fix was to Update the BIOS.

If yours does have a BIOS update it would be on HP's website, use your Service Tag / Serial # to get to it through HP's website.

They should have instructions on how to update BIOS... it may be as simple as running a file or it might require a flash drive to be made with FreeDOS... seen it both ways all the time.
