First thing you will need to do is stop One Drive from backing up your stuff. If you uninstalled One drive you will need to redownload it from the Microsoft Store.
--------------------------------
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Ensure all files are synced and have a solid green checkmark before turning off the folder backups or unlinking OneDrive. Once this is done proceed with the steps below.
1. Open OneDrive on your computer and click on the "Settings" icon in the taskbar.
2. Click on the "Backup" tab.
3. Under "Folders to back up," click on "Manage backup."
4. Deselect the checkbox next to "Documents and any other items you do not want One Drive to manage."
5. Click "OK" to save your changes.
--------------------------------
Then you need to go back to the One Drive settings and unlink your microsoft account from One Drive before you go further.
Unlink OneDrive:
Right-click the OneDrive cloud icon in the system tray.
Go to Settings (or Help & Settings > Settings).
Select the Account tab.
Click Unlink this PC and follow the prompts.
This doesn't take long and when a box pops up asking you to sign in like it is part of the process to continue, do not sign in. That just means you are signed out. Mission accomplished.
------------------------------
At this point you should COPY your information from One Drive to your computer. Do not cut and paste the folders. The folders need to remain intact for the next steps and you want to make sure your information is safe. I made a new folder on my pc and named it Backups06-04-25 or whatever works for you. Then copy your documents folder, and any others, from your One Drive to your backup folder on your pc.
------------------------------------------------------
Next you will need to redirect Windows to your new Documents folder.
Accessing the Documents Folder Properties:
Open File Explorer (you can search for it in the Start Menu).
In the left pane, locate and right-click on the "Documents" folder. (The one in your One Drive)
Select Properties from the context menu.
Navigating to the Location Tab and Moving the Folder:
In the "Documents Properties" window, go to the Location tab.
Click the Move... button.
A new window will open, allowing you to select the new folder location.
Choose the desired location for your Documents folder and click Select Folder. Usually this will be C:\Users\myname\Documents\
You will be prompted to either move the existing files to the new location or manually move them later. I recommend manually move them later bc you already have copied your data to your pc.
-------------------------------------------
Unlink OneDrive:
Right-click the OneDrive cloud icon in the system tray.
Go to Settings (or Help & Settings > Settings).
Select the Account tab.
Click Unlink this PC and follow the prompts. It might be here when it tries to have you sign in rather than earlier when I said. Just don't do it :)
------------------------------------------------
You can still find C:\Users\myname\OneDrive\ and should be able to see all your data. You can copy and paste your data from here or the backup you made of it. I recommend going into each folder, like documents, then select all and copy and then paste it in your newly appointed documents folder which should be located at C:\Users\myname\Documents\
If you still want to use One Drive it is now safe for you to do so as you have already turned off it backing up your stuff or you can leave it or uninstall it as you choose. Leave your information in your One Drive until you have completed everything and made sure you copied all of your data.
If you followed all of these steps there is no need for any registry editing or any other complicated stuff I found people saying to do when I was researching how to do this recently for myself. I had to go back and piece these instructions together from a variety of places and I do not think I have missed anything. Make sure your Sims 4 game is saving properly to the new folder by starting the game and clicking load to see your saves and the save path.
I hope this saves you all of the frustration I had trying to get this done but as always, use at your own risk.
