Sims 4 Sept 2021 Update Glitch

I updated my sims game today, and since then I have not been able to play properly. If I select to travel with someone or change an outfit, or anything really that has a pop up selection, I am unable to make the selection as the game just pauses and the whole screen turns dark. Not completely black.

Is anyone else having this issue?

    @emilymc98 yeah i came here to ask the same thing, i thought it was a me problem because i installed some mods that i later noticed weren't bgc so i deleted them and i figured i messed up something by doing that, but i guess it's something else.

    @emilymc98 Exactly the same problem. The game stops whenever I choose to order a drink/food from a stall, cook a food by clicking on the fridge/oven, travel to another location via phone, or just about anything that requires me to make an option. This only started happening after the latest update. (By the way, I really HATE those updates; they always mess something up, require me to enter and leave the game to enable mods, and happen far, far too often; and it seems they take up precious disc space, too. Could you, EA, make these updates LESS frequent, please?)
    Please fix this bug because I can't play The Sims, EA!!!

    Same, my game looks like it has a dark, blue filter and freezez (for example if I'm going to cook/ travel to a place or friend etc).

    Has anyone managed to figure out exactly what mod is causing this?

    I've just updated TOOL and BBB and deleted SOL and I am still having the same problem. I repaired my game and deleted the local thumb cache file thingy as well and... nothing. I still have MCCC, Meaningful Stories, Life's Tragedies and Wonderful Whims installed so I'm gonna test without each of those just in case. It's going to be really infuriating if it's not even due to a mod.

    UPDATE

    I've just tried playing with each of my mods individually adding one by one and it seems to be BBB and TOOL which are causing this problem. My toddler sims will be pleased that I can actually feed them now hahahaha. Hope this can help someone else. Obviously it could still be the result of other mods but MCCC, Life's Tragedies, Wonderful Whims and Meaningful Stories are all working fine for me 🙂

    @poppymae4 Yes!!! I deleted the TOOL mod files from my Mods folder, entered the game and the bug's disappeared <3
    But, for the record, I don't have BBB or SOL or MCCC or Meaningful Stories, Wonderful Whims, or Life's Tragedies. I have some of Eunola and KawaiiStacie's mods that allegedly broke after the Sep2021 update (After School Activities and CAS traits), I haven't checked them out frankly, but TOOL solved the issue for me. I can finally fabricate rugs for my new baby room :P

    BBB is the Better Build Buy mod, TOOL is also a mod, they're both mods for the build&buy mode in The Sims 4. If you haven't downloaded these mods, there's nothing to worry about. If you're not sure if you have them, try searching for files that have TwistedMexi in it, as both TOOL and BBB are mods created by a person called TwistedMexi. If nothing pops up, you probably don't have these files in your computer.
