Sims 4 Shows a White screen, then Instantly Crashes.
This issue started maybe a little more than a year ago, but I am still facing it today. I stopped chasing a solution because I was tired, but I just wanted to try again.
Edit: Attached dx.diag
As it says in the Title: Whenever I try to load up the Sims 4, Basegame, No mods, It will open to a white screen, show a blue loading circle on the cursor, and then crash.
Some Troubleshoots I've tried
- Reinstalling the Sims 4
- Reinstalling the EA Launcher and Origin Launcher (When I had It)
- Fixing the game through the Origin Launcher (When I had it) and the EA launcher
- Running Cleanup.Exe and Touchup.Exe
- Upgrading Graphics Drivers
- Deleting files: Sims 4 on Electronic arts
- Removing all mods and Saves (I'm through with trying to recover them)
- Going offline on the EA app
- Restarting my whole computer
- Running the game with "Open as Administrator"
- Excepting the Sims 4 Electronic Arts and Steam files on my Antivirus.
I haven't been able to run in "Compatibility mode" because I can't seem to find that option in the properties menu.
Other
- Notes: Cache Files did not seem to be present? It might be that I'm following old guides or it could be that the game has recognized It's never been successfully opened.
- The EA App has realized that the Game crashed Exactly Once, and gave me a crash report file. Not sure how to read that but It could prove helpful
- Game proved inactive after installing CC with Curseforge, I think It crashed and then couldn't be reopened, even with mod and save data removed from the files. I still have curseforge installed, but have gone through the options to disable acsess to my Sims Files.
- EA App recognizes the approximately 5 seconds the game is open for.
- I am playing on my Dad's account, on a pretty alright Gaming Laptop, with potentially a decade's-old softwares installed from an old PC's Backup that he helped set up. I don't want to leak too much personal info on here, but I ask for patience aquiring some basic-seeming information about my PC due to unawareness of the tech, or conflicts with software I know nothing about. I DO have admin access.
- I'm trying to play on an External Hard Drive, though, I faced these issues when I was trying to play on my own internal Storage.
- I'm playing "Through Steam."
I'm theorizing that either The EA app is attempting to reinstall broken files, or failing to reinstall important files. (This doesn't seem likely to me, it depends on wether it tries to re-install old saves and/or CC as part of installation.) OR, My computer is not up to snuff. (This again, doesn't seem likely because of the game's failure being exactly after a mod-based crash, and it worked just fine before.)
@foolspark Your dxdiag says Sims 4 is crashing because the AMD driver is crashing and taking the game down with it. Dell offers a newer driver for your laptop that covers both the integrated graphics chip and the dedicated card. You can get it here:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/g-series-15-5505-laptop/drivers
You're looking for the AMD Radeon Graphics Driver, in the Video category. Run the installer as an admin: right-click the downloaded file and select "Run as administrator." Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play. If that doesn't help, please post a new dxdiag.
