Sims 4 Start-Up Glitch & Black Screen

So i've had this recurring issue since the latest updates and essentially, it's rendered my game unplayable. I've seen a few other people with this problem yet every solution that has been suggested hasn't worked for me. What happens is the Sims will load up like normal, sometimes. Other times the loading screen will fade away to the top of the screen like a horrific Microsoft Powerpoint transition. The plumbob loading symbol will start stuttering and if I can make it to the town selection screen, which the loading screen stutters again, there is no background and the screen is just black. When i hover over certain areas they'll appear, but just fade off into the distance again.

I'm more than happy to do anything that helps me fix this issue.

What I have done:

-Re-install Origin

-Re-install Sims 4 (3x)

-Delete Cache (All 3 Folders)

-Delete All Saves

-Delete EA file

-Remove all CC & Mods

-Update Graphics Driver (Using AMD Catalyst)

-"Repair Game" (3x)

-Tried Origin Offline Mode

My Sims 4 game got stuck in windowed mode for some reason. It had the same weird glitching, twitching, and fade up like a powerpoint issue. Here is how I solved it:
I opened up the options.ini file in the Sims 4 folder of My Documents.
I changed it from reading "fullscreen=0" to "fullscreen=1".
Relaunched the game in fullscreen mode.
PRESTO- problem solved. For some reason, my computer doesn't like running it in windowed mode!!! Guess it is only happy on fullscreen LOL

Your drivers are still from 2014. Pretty sure there are newer ones.

Could you check through the AMD site directly ?

Also which drive do you have the game installed on ?

Is your Windows fully updated or do you have some failed updates ?

I'd suggest trying both the approved drivers and the beta release, you can find them here:

It was the opposite for me! I couldn't get into the game becouse it was on fullscreen, but your answer helped!
I changed "fullscreen=1" to "fullscreen=0" in the options.ini file and i could finally play the game. Been playing 5 hours straight now without any problems. So thank you! 🙂

this same exact glitch happened to me while opening my game. Here's what happened: I went onto origin logged onto sims 4 like usual, but after all the messages, and after the blumbob spinning, my screen went totally blank. Well, not totally; it was as if I was playing the game (the usual icons in the top right corner were there) but i wasn't playing. I even used my mouse and it was as if I was spinning the camera to see a different part of the game. I would like to know if this glitch is happing to anybody else.

There was another user whose options.ini was already in fullscreen. Apparently, this fix works both ways. Try changing the "0" to a "1" or the "1" to a "0" (opposite of what it is right now). Perhaps that will help!
