Sims 4 update stuck on preparing

Hi I have a problem with updating my game with the newest update of the new for rent expansion pack, I saw on the sims Instagram that for the new update it was advised to turn off mods so when I went on today I made sure to turn off my mods and CC so I could update without any interference, however when I clicked to update the game it has frozen on preparing at 2% and I have tried to cancel the update and start again but it only goes back to saying 2% and it has been like that for a while. if there is anything I can do to help it update then it would be appreciated or if I can find out why it may be doing this then that would be great as I am playing on laptop and have quite a bit of CC if that is possibly stopping the update!
