Sims 4 will not open after Windows Update

Hello, All

After a Windows update last night, I'm no longer able to open my Sims 4 game.  I get only an option to install it.  All the game files are still there.  I've done the following steps so far:  Repaired the game (this process got stuck and would not progress), did a clean reboot, tried opening directly from the Sims 4 shortcut (this just reopens the EA App), and I've tried reinstalling, but this step doesn't happen as all my files are up to date and where they should be.

I have the following specs:

Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 40 °C
Pinnacle Ridge 12nm Technology
RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1496MHz (16-18-18-36)
Motherboard
ASRock B450M/ac R2.0 (AM4) 24 °C
Graphics

C27F398 (1920x1080@60Hz)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (NVIDIA) 28 °C
Storage
465GB Western Digital WDC WDS500G2B0A-00SM50 (SATA (SSD)) 32 °C
1863GB Hitachi HUA722020ALA331 (SATA ) 36 °C
Optical Drives
No optical disk drives detected
Audio
NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

I have the most up to date version of Sims 4 with all add ons.

I do have mods, but have attempted to open without mods and have the same issue.

  • Product: The EA app
    Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) None given
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Application Installer
    When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 12.01.24 14:30
Summarize your bug So today I started up my PC and was going to launch the Sims 4, only for EA to tell me I don't have it installed? I still have the icon and all of my mods and saves, which I backed up. I had to uninstall the game from the Apps & Features tab on Windows, and am now stuck redownloading the game and all the packs. I should mention that there's also no option to repair the game.
How often does the bug occur? Rarely (0% - 9%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I'm really unsure what caused this, besides maybe an abhorrent amount of mods
What happens when the bug occurs? Game uninstalls itself after shutting down my computer the night prior, have to completely uninstall the game to be able to reinstall it, or else you get a 3-5 second loading animation where the installer usually resides and doesn't actually install anything.
What do you expect to see? My game to not randomly uninstall itself, I guess.

I have 110 GB free of space, fast internet (900 down, 30-50 up), and my specs are pretty decent (I'll put a full list below). Drivers are updated as well. I own most of the packs besides kits, Batuu, Home chef, Horse Ranch, and For Rent. I do have an ungodly amount of mods (roughly 37 GB) and also use shaders. I assume a mod caused this but I've never had a mod just cause my game to uninstall itself entirely, just have had it make the game not launch or cause in-game issues.

Specs, in case this could be affecting things? :

    CPU - Intel Core i7-9700K
    Motherboard - ASUS Prime Z390-A
GPU - Zotac GeForce RTX 2080 Amp 8GB
    RAM - Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3600
    SSD - Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2
    Power - EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 750W
OS - Windows 10 (fully updated)

  • Quick update, after going through the 50/50 method with my mods, I found the files in the screen shot attached seemed to be the issue.

  • @mjohnson801  Are you saying that the issue is fixed now that you've removed the files in your screenshot?  It would be strange for mods to have this kind of effect.
