@RagingSam95 I'm not sure when you say you cannot download your other games from the app if you mean your game saves? If that's what you mean, I will add some info in a spoiler below about which files/folders to copy from your old computer. However, if you already uninstalled it from your old computer these files may not be there for you (Tray, Saves, etc. folders) with your previous Game Saves, Library, etc.
So you're saying that the game install, at the page I linked to, will not install onto your new computer when done in the manner laid out on that webpage? Does the laptop meet the minimum requirements listed on that webpage?
Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4
Copy the following folders:
Saves, Tray, Mods, Screenshots, Recorded Video
Paste the folders:
Paste on an external drive, &/or a flash drive, to be moved to the new computer, and use them to replace the folders with the same name in your new install on the new computer at Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4
If you do this it should bring over the game saves and Library items you had in your old computer... it they were still there.
Edit: This has been merged into a thread that has multiple posts plus some great advice on install issues. Please make sure to check the second comment on the first page then follow the recommendations that @puzzlezaddict made after that.
I’ve tried creating a new folder for ea, didn’t work, I’ve done what you suggested and that hasn’t worked. It literally won’t download keeps popping up with there’s a problem with your download try again in a few minutes. It has been saying that since I updated the game when growing together came out. When I updated the game when growing together came out it wouldn’t load up sims, it would just crash and shut down completely so I repaired it and it still crashed and shut down completely so I uninstalled it with the intention to reinstall and hope that it would work but it hasn’t, it just pops up with there’s a problem with your download try again in a few minutes and now I’m stuck on what to do next. I’ve cleared the EA app cache hoping that would do something, it didn’t. I’ve done a lot of research online on how to fix my game but nothing has worked. I’ve even tried downloading the game onto an external hard drive that I always have connected to my computer and it still comes up with the same pop up.

@RagingSam95 Have you tried downloading the game to a new folder? Please do so if not. Create a new folder on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but not C:\Program Files\Games. Clear the EA App's cache and restart your computer again before trying to install to the new folder.

i have done this, i have done everything that it says online to try and get it installed and nothing is working. i have been having this problem with sims since the growing together expansion pack came out, at the time it would crash every time i loaded up the game, i tried repairing and that didnt work so uninstalled it hoping to be able to reinstall it and i havent been able to since that day. i have tried to install the game into a new folder hasnt worked, i have cleared the apps cache and that hasnt worked. nothing is working with the download but i am able to download other games i have in my library just not sims 4. it just gets stuck on preparing and then after 5-10 minutes of that it comes up with there was a problem downloading, try again in a few minutes. its getting frustrating now as i have spent so much money on a game i cant even install, let alone play!
