Sims 4 won't launch, asking for origin
I feel like I've tried everything, combed through all the forums, and nothing has solved this issue.
I just bought a HP laptop to play the Sims and do some online courses. The first thing I did when I set everything up was download the EA app. The next thing was install the sims 4. I eagerly and albeit impatiently waited ages for the game to download, and this itself took several hours of my time because it would freeze and not make any progress. When finally the game was installed and the shortcut appeared on my desktop, I clicked it thinking "finally!"
Only to be met with an error popup, stating that this game needed origin to run and that i need to please reinstall origin. Before this HP, i did originally have a mac. Does this mean I can't play any of the Sims expansions in my EA library, since origin was replaced?
Either way, I tried opening it through the EA app, and though it blinks the "game launching" popup it just as quickly blinks back without actually launching the game.
I've done everything I could- this laptop is new and only has EA and the Sims 4 downloaded. I've "repaired" the game in the EA app, I've cleared the cache, I've gone into Documents and taken out the Sims 4 folder. I've gone into the terminal and entered stuff another poster commented on a similar problem. But nothing works!
I'm at a loss. This is literally a brand new computer, I'm downloading EA and the Sims on for the first time, I don't know what to do.
