Sims 4 won't launch (play button dimmed out & won't launch from desktop)

I have The Sims 4 installed on my laptop, as well as all the expansion packs. When I launch origin, the play button is dimmed out. When I click on the actual game icon on my desktop, I get a spinning circle and it goes no further. I have no problems launching The Sims 3 though. 

I've done numerous setting changes on my laptop, uninstalled and reinstalled my antivirus making sure it's not blocking the game from launching. 

Can someone please assist me with a fix on this issue??  It was working earlier in the day, started to run a bit laggy, so I shut down my laptop and restarted. Now this issue has popped up.
