Sims 4 won't load past title screen tried everything!

Hi, I recently installed Sims 4 Parenthood and ever since I can't load the Sims 4 past the title screen. It gets to the sims 4 logo, plays some music for a couple of minutes, the music runs out and the title screen is still there, just nothing happens past that point.  I've seen that other people had similar issues so I've done my best to follow the various instructions but nothing has worked.  This is what I have tried so far;

1) Run The Sims 4 in laptop mode

2) Deleted the Sims 4 folder in Electronic Arts

3) Deleted the Origin Folders in AppData/Roaming and AppData/Local

4) Run CCleaner

5) Completely uninstalled and reinstalled all The Sims 4 games

6) Uninstalled and reinstalled Origin, then reinstalled Sims 4 games

7) Updated the driver for my graphics card

8) Done a clean restart of my Laptop

9) Run a complete scan of my computer to check for virus using BullGuard

I've checked on "Can I run it?" and it says I meet the minimum system requirements. I don't have any custom content. I do have The Sims 3 and expansions up to Into the Future on the same laptop - should I uninstall that?

This is my dxdiag https://hastebin.com/ujipijitik.tex (I think)

I don't really know anything about how any of it works but I'm completely stuck - please help!

  • Hi @Bkwrm

are you using any mod/cc in your game ? Your graphics card is a bit borderline but it shouldn't get stuck because of it.

This is a small chance, but I would also check your anti virus to make sure it is not blocking your game or any of the DLC.

With clean restart you mean a clean boot, right ?

Did you make sure the game runs on the card and not the chip ? Do you have one or two monitors connected ?

Probably? I followed some step by step instructions involving msconfig and disabling stuff on start up in task manager that were in an answer to someone else with a similar issue.

In terms of monitors it's literally just my laptop screen.

How would I check if it runs on card or chip?

Okay I am finally up and running. As far as I can tell it was a combination of a problem with my Nvidia and with my bullguard antivirus. I uninstalled and reinstalled my GEForce Experience plus completely uninstalled Bullguard (I will now be using AVG, which I know will allow Sims 4) and that seems to have fixed the problem. On BullGuard it said that TS4.exe, Origin.exe and authorizationUI were all allowed but that didn't seem to make a difference. On my graphics processor by choosing play sims 4 from GE Force experience once it had been reinstalled instead of from Origin Sims 4 started working again. Hope that helps anyone else with the same problem.
And thanks so much to the two of you who helped me.
