Sims 4 Won't load

I tried to play the sims 4 and it starts loading goes past the part where it says sims 4 into where it has the green diamond spinning but then crashes and loads up origin and i cant get it to go any further than that. it updates fine theres no update queued but it still wont allow me to play.

What should i do?

  • @Ms_pringles1  Does your computer run Windows or macOS, and which version?  I can move this thread to one of the Sims sections for game-specific help.

In the mean time, please move your entire Sims 4 game folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to that folder yet, just see whether the game loads and you can start a new save.  (Your existing content will be intact in the old folder but not loaded by the game.)  Let me know either way.

    Hi,

I'm having the same problem. I moved the entire Sims 4 folder to the desktop, but it still won't load. Says we need to update & then crashes when we click "Update".

DXDiag File attached. Grateful for any help!

    Thanks

    Alex

@alexboyward  Are you trying to update through Origin, or by launching from a Sims 4 shortcut?  It's best to go through the Origin game library rather than launching the game directly.  If that doesn't help, please clear Origin's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

restart your computer, and repair the game: open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.  Then try to update, which is also listed in the menu you see when you right-click.

If that doesn't help, run Origin as an admin—right-click on the Origin shortcut and select "Run as administrator"—and try again.

If that doesn't help either, please disable Avast temporarily.

@puzzlezaddict, you must have waved your magic wand overnight! When we tried again this morning, it loaded perfectly. :-) Thanks...
