[SIMS 4] Won't proceed past Create a Sim

Hi,

I try to make a new Sims game, and when I try to leave create-a-sim - it just randomly freezes. If I click escape, I can leave the photo menu where you confirm the sims. However, I cannot proceed. It also says my save-game existing is corrupted. I have cleared my cache, repaired the game, re-installed the game, uninstalled all mods, etc.

Please assist, thank you.

  • @hawkethis  Please move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet; just see whether you can start a new save and  play in live mode for a bit.

If you get another freeze, let me know whether you use OneDrive, and please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@SuperShjt  I've merged your post with another thread on the same issue.  Please see the above suggestions.

@SuperShjt  I think OneDrive's sync process is the issue here, and so you'll need to prevent OneDrive from syncing the contents of Documents.  Before doing that, please make a backup copy of the Sims 4 folder and place it somewhere safe, ideally on an external drive.  In a pinch, you can drop it into Downloads—OneDrive doesn't sync that folder.

Once you have a backup copy, you can stop the syncing of Documents:

If you get an error, you may need to pause syncing and cancel the current sync first:
