Sims 4 won't start after updating

Not long ago there was a new update for the Sims 4. Origin told me it was mandatory to update my game before I could play. I did this and after updating I wanted to play. I got a message saying that my game could not start because of missing or damaged files. This is a first for me and I HAVE NO CC and NO MODS. I never have had any mods or CC with The Sims 4. Origin also needed to update later that day so I did that as well thinking that maybe EA had detected a bug in their latest Update for the sims and were fixing it or something. No. It did absolutely nothing. It told me that I need to uninstall and reinstall The Sims 4 but my family is getting ready to move so much of our stuff is in boxes including my Sims 2,3 and 4 stuff so obviously this isn't an option plus I would loss all of my families and my younger cousins would be really upset about that. I have a windows 7 computer(updating to 8 or 10 is not an option for me) and I have The Sims 4 premium edition, the Get to Work & Get Together expansions and the Outdoor retreat Stuff pack if that helps. Thanks for reading and hopefully helping me out!

  • Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Could you please stay to one thread ?

I'll answer you in the other

  • I had the same issue. Here's what I did to fix it:

Go to Origin - My Games

Right click The Sims 4 and choose "Check for updates"

If you find updates you have to update the game, if not right click the game again and choose "Repair Game"

This solved it for me within 5 minutes.
