sims are compressed

All of the sims and menus are compressed, but the screen and the game other than the menus, items, and sims aren't. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I've also tried every resolution option and tried every possible combination of graphics options but nothing really changes. is there anything I could do to fix this?
