Sims can't pick up dishes on one lot

Hello, 

I've been having issues with a new lot. My sims (both of them) cannot pick up dirty dishes and clean them. Whenever I click on "clean up" the action immediately disappears. 

When the plate is still half full, the "clean up" option is greyed out; I can only put away, add to inventory or eat. 

Now I've been reading a bit and tried to solve this by what other people wrote.

  • Exiting the game, deleting cache and starting again didn't work. 
  • There are no dishes on any shelves or anywhere else hidden. 
    The sink isn't blocked by any other items; they can wash their hands and take a drink from it just fine. 
  • There are no dishes stuck in the oven or microwave. 

I built the house myself, but I added a few outdoor rooms from the gallery. 

My Sims used to live in a different house. I moved them out there and moved them into the new one. Their leftovers from before were added to their new fridge. 

Do any of you have ANY idea what could be going on and how I can fix it? 

Other lots work just fine.

Addition:

They also can't cook. It says there's no room on the counters.

I tried deleting the entire kitchen and building a new one. Just a basic counter, fridge, stove... same problem. Apparently no room on any counters. What in h...

Update: 

Okay, I've partially solved this by basically rebuilding the house room by room, on a new lot, and using a different kitchen (mine was CC). 

Now they can cook again. But I STILL have the issue with the plates. What the heck.

    I had a similar issue once, and it was caused by dishes having been put inside the trophy cabinet that the sport career gets. I didnd't see it at fist because it was on the wall and didn't show with my current wall settings. I had to manually grab the dishes out of there and after that everything worked.

    I've searched everywhere but can't find any dishes. :-( 

    Plus, as far as I understood, the action gets queued but they complain that they can't reach them, right? When I click a dish, the action vanishes from the queue immediately.

    I can't remember what it looked like now, sorry. But I couldn't even go to the cabinet and interact with the plate and glass that was in there either, I had to go into build mode and remove them. I noticed that sometimes they can put dishes in the weirdest places, like behind other items so you don't even see where.

    It might not be what's going on in your case, just saying dishes can really mess things up. Especially if someone likes to drink juice/water all the time, they leave glasses literally everywhere. Learn to refill 🙂

    There's something that clearly rules out this possibility though. When I built the house room by room without the old kitchen, everything worked. Only after I added the old kitchen to the lot (but far away from the house) to move some of the decorative items to the new kitchen, the error occurred again. So I guess I will have to try again: rebuild the house room by room on an empty lot, build the kitchen from scratch. And maybe this time test it after every new addition. And then just not save the game, if the error occurs again. 

    Ugh. Sounds like a lot of work.
