Sims can't pick up dishes on one lot

I had a similar issue once, and it was caused by dishes having been put inside the trophy cabinet that the sport career gets. I didnd't see it at fist because it was on the wall and didn't show with my current wall settings. I had to manually grab the dishes out of there and after that everything worked.
I've searched everywhere but can't find any dishes. :-(
Plus, as far as I understood, the action gets queued but they complain that they can't reach them, right? When I click a dish, the action vanishes from the queue immediately.
I can't remember what it looked like now, sorry. But I couldn't even go to the cabinet and interact with the plate and glass that was in there either, I had to go into build mode and remove them. I noticed that sometimes they can put dishes in the weirdest places, like behind other items so you don't even see where.
It might not be what's going on in your case, just saying dishes can really mess things up. Especially if someone likes to drink juice/water all the time, they leave glasses literally everywhere. Learn to refill 🙂
There's something that clearly rules out this possibility though. When I built the house room by room without the old kitchen, everything worked. Only after I added the old kitchen to the lot (but far away from the house) to move some of the decorative items to the new kitchen, the error occurred again. So I guess I will have to try again: rebuild the house room by room on an empty lot, build the kitchen from scratch. And maybe this time test it after every new addition. And then just not save the game, if the error occurs again.
Ugh. Sounds like a lot of work.
